Michael Christofidis

  • Laboratory Assistant

Hi everyone! My name is Michael Christofidis and I’m a graduating senior here at Pitt! I’ve been working as an undergraduate research assistant in the Pitt ALS Research Lab for 2 years now, and it has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my higher education experience. Dr. Kolarcik is the best PI, and I couldn’t ask for a more nice, smart, or more impactful lab team which speaks to the environment and lab she’s created. I’ve primarily been working on a study looking at motor unit population changes in patients with ALS using HD-EMG. Helping work on this study from the early stages has been incredible and I am so excited to see it progress as we collect more and more data! Personally, I’m completing my master’s degree in Bioengineering next year through the 4+1 EAGr program that the Swanson School of Engineering provides, before hopefully attending medical school the following year to pursue my dream of becoming a physician. For fun, I like to exercise, watch movies, cook, and listen to my favorite sports podcast or some country music!
