Breanna is a Medical Student in Pitt’s Physician Scientist Training Program and aspiring Neurologist who strives to enhance our scientific understanding of neurodegeneration to improve clinical outcomes for her future patients. She graduated from Hofstra University with a B.S. in Neuroscience and completed postbaccalaureate research on Parkinson’s disease at the National Institute on Aging Laboratory of Neurogenetics. As a member of the K Team, Breanna is involved in studying 1) presymptomatic neural network changes in mouse models of ALS and 2) selective vulnerability and resilience of muscle fiber types with disease progression in patients with ALS. In addition to her passion for science and medicine, Breanna’s hobbies include guitar, baking, hiking, cycling, plants, and dogs.
